The Saint Mina Monastery

Geographic position
The Monastery belongs to the Sihăstria Monastery and is located in the city of Tîrgu Neamț. Its construction was finished in 1951, under the abbacy of the protosingelos Ioil Gheorghiu. At that time, the chapel had only one room, the nave being joined to the pronaos, being 12 metres long in total and and almost five metres wide at the interior.

1959
In 1959, the chapel was burnt, but as if by a miracle, the hieromonk Varsanufie Lipan saved the icons of the painter Irineu Protcenco and brought them to the Sihăstria Monastery. At present, these icons are exhibited in the stoop of “Sts. Joachim and Anne, parents of Our Lady” in the Sihăstria Monastery.
With the blessing of His Eminence, Daniel, was begun the construction of the chapel and and of a big block of stone for the sanctums. The chapel was consecrated in 1995 by His Eminence, the Archbishop Daniel, under the patronage of the Saint Martyr Mina. Shortly afterwards, a storeyed house was also built, being also made of wood, serving the different needs of the monastery and an attached establishment was also constructed.
