The Copper woods
Geographic position
Besides the “Silver woods”, the “Copper woods” reservation completes the incursion into the natural fairy-like scenery of the county of Neamţ. The reservation of holms is located in the commune of Agapia, on Filiorul hill, at a height ranging between 550 and 650 metres, with a surface of over 20 hectares. The oldest trees in the reservation are 135 years old.
Besides them, within the reservation we can also admire about 300 species of plants.
Fairy-like atmosphere
The atmosphere in this place is really a fairy-like one. The Filioara brook streams through the feet of the hill bearing the same name, which is surrounded by clumps of osier. And the beauty of the lawn which surrounds the forest is conferred by plants such as red bent grass and tickle grass.
The native people say that at the sunset, in the light of the sun rays, we can admire “the incensed sky”, described by Mihai Eminescu in the poem Călin (pages from a tale). Presenting many possibilities for accomodation within guest houses, the commune of Agapia is one of the favourite places of the tourists from all over the world.
